Abstract

For the organizing team of the IV Colombian Congress of Mammalogy, it is very satisfying to present this book of abstracts that compiles contributions on mammals from various Latin American countries, which include, in addition to Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina, the United States and Paraguay. For this congress, the circumstances of the global pandemic generated by COVID-19 forced us to hold the congress virtually, a challenge that we assume from the SCMas with great expectation and a little fear. Despite the virtual format, we are very satisfied, since the participation was extensive, with 305 people attending the event, of which 293 downloaded the Whova platform. This platform and its mobile application allowed us to carry out a less rigid virtual congress, with some data that we presented graphically. This data reflects the constant interest in the event despite the virtual format, and speaks of the congress in terms of its impact in Colombia and the region. From the Organizing Committee we hope that the congress will continue to be held in the future in person, contributing to the knowledge of different aspects concerning Neotropical mammalogy and with the human factor that generates presence.
